About Us
Urban Development Society is a coalition of architecture, planning, and business students, scholars, and professionals actively working to promote sustainable and socially conscious urban development around Texas and beyond. A primary goal of this multidisciplinary organization is to increase public awareness of all progress and challenges associated with the rapid urban growth the region is experiencing.
Urban Development Society addresses the design, political, economic, and social issues related to how we are preparing to build to accommodate millions of projected newcomers. UDS is a fun, energetic and active group working to make our future more livable.
All undergraduates and graduates are eligible to join. There are no dues and numerous networking opportunities are available. We have working relationships with:
- City of Austin’s city council
- Capital Metropolitan Transit Authority
- Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association
- State of Texas
- McCombs Graduate Real Estate Society
among many others in a network of companies, professional designers, organizations, and politicians.
